Famed for the Scottish Highlands, this area has become one of Utah's fastest growing communities. It began as a small 15 family settlement. Highland was settled in 1853. It was finally officially incorporated as a city on July 13, 1977.  The settling of Highland: 1853.  The incorporation date of Highland: July 13, 1977.  Highland was settled by homesteaders in the 1870s. It was named by Scottish Mormon immigrants who felt the area resembled the highlands of Scotland.
